Clos Pegase Wine Dinner at Second Floor

by David Donalson

This Tuesday, the Second Floor Bistro and Bar are going to be hosting one of my favorite wineries, Clos Pegase. Winemaker Richard Sowalsky and executive chef J Chastain will be working together for this 5 wine, 4 course meal. For my money, I always love it when there is more wine than food and for just $75, this is well worth the money. Just look at the menu:

Amuse Bouche

2009 “Mitsuko’s
Vineyard” Sauvignon Blanc, Carneros

First Course

Seared Scallops with
English Peas and Goat Cheese

2009 “Mitsuko’s
Vineyard” Chardonnay, Carneros

Second Course

House-made Potato
Gnocchi with Smoked Duck

2008 “Mitsuko’s
Vineyard” Pinot Noir, Carneros

Third Course

Beef Tenderloin with
Pomme Puree and Truffled Demi-glace

2007 Cabernet
Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Fourth Course

Apricot Crème Brulee

2006 Late Harvest
Chardonnay, Carneros

I am particularly excited for the Mitsuko’s Vineyard wines. Carneros is situated in the southern-most tip of Napa Valley (and Sonoma Valley) and home to many different varietals not typically found in Napa Valley. Having had Clos Pegase before, I am extremely excited to see their style of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

As per the food, it looks absolutely amazing and a list of my favorites. I cannot wait to get to taste and drink and enjoy this wonderful event. Come say hi as we feast on Tuesday night at the 2nd Floor.

Clos Pegase is near the top of my list of places to visit when I make it back to Napa. I have heard so much about the winery and its art, not just its wine.
