The chilly weather didn’t put a damper on the Freixenet Tastings & Tapas truck launch at Wish Ultralounge last night. Food trucks are all the rage these days and the Ferrer family, the producers of Freixenet, were not going to be left in the cold, no pun intended. Freixenet, Spain’s famous “Black Bottle Bubbly”, is the “largest producer of methode champenoise”. For those of you, like me, who don’t know what the heck that means, they make more sparkling wine than anyone else. You can’t call it Champagne unless it’s made in, you guessed it, Champagne, France.
The Freixenet truck is fully loaded! They have a flat screen TV, a spin the wheel game, (not to be confused with spin the bottle) think mini Plinko from the Price is Right. You spin the wheel and win prizes. They also have a photo booth replete with funky hats, sunglasses, etc. to help Freixenet lovers accessorize for the “Wonderfully Unexpected Photo Contest“. Photos can be submitted for a chance to win a weekend getaway for two to Sonoma, California.
This weekend the truck will make appearances all over the metroplex to share the versatility of cava. Saturday and Sunday they will be at the Texas Motor Speedway where they can serve the bubbly directly from the truck along with a light selection of tapas. Freixenet is the official sponsor of the TMS Champagne Toast. The best part about the Spanish bubbly is the price. At a mere $12 a bottle, any and everyone can find a reason to celebrate. Salute!
Try my Black Bottle Pama Royale:
2 ounces Pama liqueur
1/2 ounce pomegranate juice
Top with “Black Bottle Bubbly”
Garnish with pomegranate seeds
I am SO going to have to hunt them down if we go out to TMS on Sunday. I hope they don’t mind if I just hang out there all day…
