One of our favorite seafood restaurants and markets started in their tiny digs at Preston and Forest back in 1989, and founded by Tom Haden and Jim Kearnen (thus the T and the J). The pair retired ten years later making way for the new owners, Pete & Caren Alexis who appreciated the shop since its inception. The family promised to maintain its values and excellence in quality and service. In 2009, Jon Alexis took over as the “third generation” owner of TJ’s Seafood Market.
Today, Jon Alexis is synonymous with those same exacting standards and is revered as the foremost authority of seafood in North Texas. Alexis was not one to sit idle, and in 2012 he opened a second location, this time with a full kitchen and tables for his clientele to enjoy the fresh catch of the day. This month Alexis achieved a new landmark by moving the original (and aging) store just a few miles south at Preston and Royal where he expanded the dine-in service to a greater degree, and also now offers a full line of beer, wine and cocktails.
We recently had a chance to stop by the new location to check out the fare and atmosphere. We think you will agree that you can definitely get fresh and delicious seafood in landlocked Dallas.
It would be great if under each picture of food you mentioned what it was! It all looks so good. I love TJ’s on Oak Lawn 🙂
