Christmas Dallas Dining Guide 2015

Did you burn the prime rib, or forget to brine the bird? We have a few Christmas Day alternatives that will make dining a snap. I am still available should you decide to make one of the following places for your holiday feast.  These are in order in which we received the information. Note that Royal China and Howard Wang’s will be open with a regular menu and regular hours Christmas Day.  For best service and entry, look for odd hours to enjoy your dinner. And there is always IHOP which will be open regular hours.

Lark in the Park: Join Chefs Melody Bishop and Dennis Kelley on December 25 for a special 3-course prix fixe menu with choices in each selection and a special menu for children 12 and under. Entree offerings include Bay of Fundy Salmon, Tagliatelle with Perigord Truffles, Braised Beef Cheeks and Black Barley with Cavolo Nero and Winter Squash. Children’s menu includes choice of Grilled Chicken, Salmon, Cheeseburger, Grilled Cheese or Penne Pasta and choice of dessert. Seatings available at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm.  Cost is $65 for adults with an optional wine pairing ($45) and $18 for children.  For reservations and additional information call 214-855-5275

Meddlesome Moth:  Popular Design District staple, Meddlesome Moth opens on December 25 at 5pm for a special Christmas Dinner and menu crafted by Executive Chef Richard Graff. Holiday specials include All-natural Amish Turkey with brandied sweet potatoes, sautéed broccolini, roasted vegetable brown gravy and cranberry-apple mostarda ($23) and 44 Farms Prime Rib served with green peppercorn mustard, rosemary marbled potatoes, brown butter haricots verts and cipollini onion a jus ($32). Reservations are recommended and walk-ups welcome.   For additional information and to reserve a table call 214-628-7900.

Kirin Court: Consistently named our favorite spot for dim sum in Dallas, Kirin will offer its fabulous dim sum service from 10am to 10pm. What a fantastic way to celebrate the day.

Morton’s Steakhouse: Morton’s be open from 2 to 9pm with their regular menu offerings including one fab prime ribeye.

The Rustic: This hotspot is going tamale crazy on the best day of the year. From 6pm to midnight The Rustic will feature a limited menu featuring three tamale varieties – pork, chicken and vegetarian – accompanied by Salsa Chile de Arbol, will satisfy your hunger. Your thirst will be quenched by the “Rustic Rita,” made with Dulce Vida Organic Tequila, agave nectar and fresh-squeezed lime juice. Or, help “Drink the Tree” by choosing a ZiegenBock Amber from The Rustic’s original beer bottle Christmas tree, for just $3.

The Second Floor: Will be featuring a delicious  five course menu with shrimp and chorizo soup, gnocchi, pork loin, smoked salmon, and tenderloin from 2 to 8 pm. For reservations call 972-450-2978.

Steel: Steel will be offering a prixe fixe menu from 5 to 9pm featuring Tom Yum Soup, Seared Scallop, Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Szechuan Pepper Crusted Strip Loin, Curry Roasted Lamb Shank, Crispy Roasted Duck, Chocolate Ganache Cake, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Pumpkin Cheesecake. To book a reservation, or for more information, call 214-219-9908

Oceanaire: Located in the Galleria, this seafood haunt has the best crab cakes and an extensive oyster selection. Choose from the regular menu from 2 to 9pm.

Knife: The Tesar wunderkind restaurant is all about the beef, and you may be able to snag a reservation for dinner. May the force be with you.

Ser Steak and Sprits: On the top floor of the Anatole Hilton, SER is the most romantic with the very best view of the cityscape in Dallas. They are offering a four course brunch from 11am to 6pm. Call 214-219-9908 for reservations. 

The Front Room: Christmas Day brunch buffet will include roasted leg of lamb with mint jelly, prime rib with horseradish cream, ham with cinnamon-orange glaze, soups, salads, sides and breakfast items, including challah French toast, brisket scramble, roasted potato hash and eggs Benedict with lobster hollandaise. Dec. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $55 per person, $20 for children 12 and younger. After brunch, happy hour and the regular a la carte menu will be available.

India Palace: The Palace will serve a Christmas Day brunch buffet. Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. $16 per person, $6.95 for children ages 4-10, free for children 3 and younger. The regular a la carte menu will also be available for Christmas brunch, plus Christmas dinner and all day Christmas Eve
