Top Knot, the new modern American restaurant with Asian roots that features shareable plates with market ingredients and flavors from Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Japan, and just hosted Chef Stephan Pyles of Flora Street Cafe in the last installment of the Top Knot Summer Ramen Series on Monday, June 26, Chef John Tesar will be on hand July 31, and Chef Mei Lin for final installment of the summer on Monday, August 28.
“The Summer Ramen Series gives us a chance to collaborate with other chefs, brewers, and farmers for one night to create something fun and special for our community,” comments Top Knot’s Chef de Cuisine Angela Hernandez.
Chef Angela Hernandez worked under acclaimed Chef Gordon Ramsay at the London Hotel following her graduation from Texas Culinary Academy, where she sharpened her classic French culinary skills. From there she moved to celebrated eateries Allen & Delancey and Corton under Chef Paul Liebrandt before moving to Los Angeles to work at The Bazaar by Jose Andres. As a longtime fan of Uchi and desiring to return to Texas, Hernandez joined the Uchiko team in 2014.
This round of guests chefs will be serving their take on ramen with a portion of proceeds going to one of our favorite charitable organizations in Dallas, Promise of Peace Gardens.
Monday, July 31, 5-10 p.m. with Chef John Tesar of Knife Dallas
Chef John Tesar takes a classically trained chef’s approach to steakhouse cuisine at Knife Dallas, a sophisticated destination for in-house dry-aged steaks sourced from nearby Texas farms. A four-time James Beard “Best Southwest Chef” semifinalist, two-time Top Chef contestant, and author of the newly released cookbook Knife: Texas Steakhouse Meals At Home, Tesar was a European-trained seafood chef before setting out to reinvent the Texas steakhouse landscape.
Monday, August 28, 5-10 p.m. with Chef Mei Lin of Top Chef season 12
Chef Mei Lin grew up working alongside her father at their family-owned and -operated restaurant. She cut her teeth at many revered restaurants, but credits most of her formal training to her time at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago Vegas and Michael Voltaggio’s ink. in Los Angeles. Chef Lin recently earned the title of Top Chef on Bravo’s Emmy-winning show, and is currently dedicating her time to travel and research in preparation for opening her own LA-based restaurant.
