Asian Mint to Host Cooking Classes at Richardson Location


Asian Mint and award-winning Chef/Owner Nikky Phinyawatana will host a cooking class at the Asian Mint Richardson location on Saturday, March 14 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

The class will be a hands-on, interactive experience learning how to make Larb Mushroom and Chicken Basil. Larb Mushroom is a vegetarian take on a Lao meat salad and is regarded as the unofficial national dish of Laos. Chicken Basil is a classic Thai dish that is typically served with rice. Recipes can be altered to be made gluten free and vegan if needed.

She also invites you to sign up with your family as kids 8+ are welcome to take the class. In fact,  Nikky encourages this and says, “When you get young ones to experience a new cuisine by sight, feel, and taste and then create a dish out of new flavors and ingredients, they fall in love with cooking and start to explore more of what the world has to offer.”

Nikky is on a mission to to “feed souls” with food, culture and travel. These cooking series are one of her favorite ways of connecting with others on a more personal level. She explains, “It feeds my soul just as much as I hope it does our guests.”

History of Asian Mint with Founder/Chef Nikky Phinyawatana  

Nikky Phinyawatana realized an opportunity 15 years ago to create a restaurant where guests could have fresh Thai food in a clean, modern atmosphere while enjoying a nice bottle of wine, Asian inspired cocktails and end the night with a selection of house-made Asian inspired desserts. Growing up in Bangkok, she grew accustomed to Thai food being a quality dining experience with fresh ingredients prepared in a healthy and approachable way and felt compelled to bring this to the Dallas dining scene back in 2004.

Nikky is not just passionate about feeding people’s belly’s but also passionate about feeding souls. She recently launched a YouTube channel called NIKKY FEEDING SOULS where she shared where expertise in Thai food, culture, and travel.  She has also packaged her award-winning sauces for sale and is working on her first cookbook.

Asian Mint opened its first location in 2004 at Forest Lane and Central Expressway with Oak Lawn Avenue in 2008 and another in Inwood Village following in 2017. Richardson is the 4th and most recent location for Asian Mint – a staple of Dallas’ Asian dining landscape.
