Wok Star Chinese Debuts with Celebrated Chef

Wok Star Chinese, the new spot that took over the former Nazca Kitchen space at The Hill, is now open for dine-in, delivery and take-out. The menu is mainly authentic Chinese and was created by Chinese chefs, not the owners, who are American. Running the kitchen is local famed chef Charlie Zhang, who previously dazzled diners with his amazing hand pulled noddle skills at Royal China and Imperial Noodle.

The space is modern American, featuring a large vibrant dining room with a mural of “rock star” prints on one side and a modified u-shaped bar on the other. An energetic sound system cranking up the hits plays throughout, while still allowing diners the ability to hear and speak to each other, even at larger tables. Outside there are plenty of seats on the patio to enjoy when the weather permits.

Happy hour runs daily from 3pm to 6pm and offers half-price craft cocktails, $2 off beer and wine, and snacks on the cheap. Beef egg rolls, potstickers, prawn balls, popcorn chicken and bacon fried rice run from $4-$6.

The menu offers legit Chinese dishes like Xiao Long Bao, hand made dumplings, dry fried green beans, pork in garlic sauce, fried rice, scallion pancakes and hand-pulled La Mian noodles. Those who crave Americanized versions will be happy with General Tso’s Chicken, Beef and Broccoli and Sesame Chicken, among others.
