Bourbon & Banter launches new spirits series featuring tasting menu by new Statler Executive Chef Joel Harloff

We are promoting this event, but first want to take a moment to point out the new executive chef at the Statler. Joel Harloff is an amazing chef who has made me a few of my favorite dinners… of my life. You will want to try out his cuisine. Look for more information on Joel soon.

Bourbon & Banter, the eclectic underground speakeasy located in The Statler Dallas, has long been acclaimed for its extensive spirits collection and masterful mixologists. Now, the iconic hideaway is inviting some of the country’s leading distillers to share their wares in a monthly series of tasting events called The Pour: An Underground Curated Spirits & Culinary Tasting Experience. The first of these events, at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31, will feature the collection of Fort Worth’s Acre Distilling Co.

The Acre Distilling event will feature tastings of eight of the distiller’s most popular spirits, including:

·       Longhair Jim Straight Bourbon Whisky

·       Texas Jack Peach Flavored Whisky

·       Cinnamon Girl Cinnamon Flavored Whisky

·       Miss Addie’s Blackberry Sage Tea Vodka

·       Peach Dream Ginger Peach Tea Vodka

·       Java Shine Coffee Flavored Whisky

·       Two additional surprise tastings

The award-winning spirits will be served alongside a custom tasting menu prepared by The Statler’s new Executive Chef Joel Harloff, who was recently brought on by Refined Hospitality Concepts for the property. Harloff has been a fixture of the Dallas dining scene for years, including stints at The Second Floor at The Westin Galleria Dallas, Landmark at The Melrose, The Green Room, Battuto, Ocho, Mi Piaci and more.

Harloff will design a custom tasting menu for The Pour. Featured items for March include:

·       Bourbon-Peach Glazed Halibut with Texas Suite BBQ Sauce, Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Crispy Slaw

·       Cinnamon Chile Seared Short Rib with Chipotle Mash, Corn and Black Bean Relish and Creamy Cilantro Cucumber Salad

·       Caramel Espresso Mousse Cake with Macerated Berries and Candied Pecans

March’s tasting event is $120 per person plus tax. Seating at The Pour events is limited and requires advance reservations. Tasting events run from 6 to 8 p.m.

Reservations are required.  Further details on this and other events at Bourbon & Banter can be found at BourbonAndBanterDallas.com.
