El Carlos Elegante Celebrates Mexican Independence Day

El Carlos EleganteDuro Hospitality’s beacon of authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Dallas, is gearing up to celebrate Mexican Independence Day on September 16 in a truly distinctive manner by celebrating all month long. Traditionally, Mexican Independence Day is a time for family gatherings, music, and feasting. However, for expats separated from their families, it can be a bittersweet occasion. El Carlos Elegante has found a creative solution by curating a special menu that embodies the spirit of these cherished family gatherings.

This month-long celebration features a limited selection of dishes from El Carlos’ original menu, each carefully chosen to evoke the essence of Mexican cuisine and culture and retaining the restaurant’s signature format, which includes categories like “one hitters,” cold dishes, and masa-based offerings. The process of selecting these dishes involved a deep exploration of family recipes and childhood memories from the culinary team at El Carlos. These culinary creations serve as a bridge to the team’s Mexican roots, allowing them to share the tastes and traditions they hold dear.

In addition, the restaurant has added a special section to the menu exclusively for the month of September that includes six new dishes, specifically Brisket Sope, Prawn Aguachile, Tacos Sudados, Esquites, Papas y Carrots, and Lamb Mixiotes. These menu items will be available only during the month of September and are part of a culinary journey that invites guests to immerse themselves in the warmth and camaraderie of a Mexican gathering. Guests have the option to select individual dishes or fully embrace the experience by entrusting their meal selection to the culinary team.

El Carlos Elegante distinguishes itself not only through its cuisine but also in its embrace of bilingualism and culture. The kitchen boasts a diverse team of Hispanic workers who proudly infuse their heritage into every aspect of the restaurant. From calling out dishes in Spanish to encouraging servers to learn Spanish terms, they stand as a testament to the diversity and inclusivity of Mexican cuisine.

As a tribute to the team’s Mexican heritage, El Carlos Elegante will be donating a portion of revenue from the month of September to Oak Lawn United Methodist Church which serves as a welcoming center for migrants in Dallas in response to the border crisis. On average, the church serves anywhere from 150 to 250 migrants each week, providing them with meals, clothing,  places to rest, medical assistance, and transportation services.

This special September menu surrounding the celebration of Mexican Independence Day promises to delight a variety of tastes and preferences, ensuring there’s something for everyone to savor. El Carlos Elegante looks forward to inviting the Dallas community to join them on a culinary journey that celebrates the depth and diversity of Mexican cuisine. With open minds and open hearts, patrons can discover the rich tapestry of flavors that make authentic Mexican food a global treasure.
