Malai Kitchen has launched their brewed in-house seasonal beers for the Oktoberfest Tap Takeover happening now through October 6 at all locations. The Thai and Vietnamese restaurant has been brewing their own beer at their nano-brewery within their Southlake location since 2014 and has three seasonal beers on tap including the Hefewiezen, Helles Lager and Oktoberfest beer.
Head brewmaster, Justin Meyers, made a traditional Marzen version of Oktoberfest beer which is an amber colored lager that is semi sweet with a crisp finish. The flavors are caramel toffee and toasted bread crust. This version was served until the 1970’s when the 6 Munich breweries switched to a more light bodied and straw colored festbier style that you see in the festival today.
In addition to their Oktoberfest beer launching, all taps at all locations will transform into Bavarian style beers now through October 6.
The beer selection will also include a Helles Lager – Helles is German for pale, and this pale lager is rounder and fuller bodied than a typical light lager or pilsner; and Hefeweizen – a German unfiltered wheat ale with a yeast forward flavor that derives its clove and fruit-like aromas from the fermentation process.
