Barsotti’s Fine Food and Liqueurs for Solid Handmade Pastas

Creste Sunday Gravy

Barsotti’s Fine Food and Liqueurs, located at 4208 Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas, is a reimagined Italian-American restaurant with deep local roots. Formerly known as Carbone’s Fine Food and Wine, the restaurant reopened in 2023 under its new name after a legal dispute with a New York-based restaurant group over naming rights. The new name, chosen through a community poll, honors owner Julian Barsotti’s great-grandfather and reflects the restaurant’s personal and family-driven identity.

The interior has been redesigned with a mid-century aesthetic—navy walls, family photos, and a sketch by Tony Bennett give the space a distinctly personal feel. A newly added bar seats sixteen and anchors the space, while booth seating invites groups to linger and share meals. The refreshed layout is both practical and character-driven, retaining the cozy atmosphere of the original while allowing for a livelier flow.

The menu leans into Italian-American staples made with careful technique and fresh ingredients. Classics like veal piccata, chicken parm in vodka sauce, lasagna Bolognese, and linguine with clams are prepared in-house, with handmade mozzarella, ricotta, and pasta. The dishes reflect a clear respect for tradition but avoid being overly nostalgic or heavy-handed.

Barsotti’s has earned recognition from the Michelin Guide, a rare nod in the Dallas dining scene, and continues to draw a loyal following. It’s a place that balances consistency with thoughtful updates—familiar without being stagnant. For those looking for a neighborhood spot that delivers straightforward, well-executed food in a setting that feels both polished and personal, Barsotti’s stands out as a strong example of how to evolve while staying grounded.
