Most restaurants don’t make it to ten years. Norma’s Cafe opened in Oak Cliff in 1956 and has been at it ever since. That original location has never moved. The biscuits and gravy are still on the menu. The Mile-High Pies still require you to plan around them. On Wednesday, June 24, Norma’s turns 70 and all five traditional locations are marking it the way the restaurant always has — by feeding people and keeping the price where it belongs.

All-day $2 Meal Deals at Oak Cliff, North Dallas, Park Lane, Frisco, and Plano from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dine-in only. The full Norma’s menu applies — the chicken fried steak that has won awards, the biscuits, the pies. A portion of what comes in that day goes to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Dallas, which was important to the restaurant’s late former owner Ed Murph. Kurt Metzger, who runs operations now, put it plainly: “He cared deeply about the people of DFW, and his spirit will live on.”
Norma’s is also announcing expansion for late 2026. Seventy years in and the place is still moving forward. Not many restaurants get to say that.
Five traditional locations. June 24. 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dine-in. More at normascafe.com or (972) 820-5871.
