Sweets For Your Dallas Valentine

When we think of Valentine’s Day we tend to think of chocolate, love, and presents, yet most of us don’t know that Valentine’s Day has its roots in an ancient Roman fertility festival called Lupercalia. It was a festival celebrating early spring, fertility, the ancestors, and love. The ancient priests would sacrifice a goat and then make their way around the perimeter of the city of Rome, lightly tapping women on the way with strips of the blood-soaked goat’s skin. No one thought this was strange, as this was an invitation for the spirits of the ancestors to re-incarnate through the cycle of rebirth and ensure fertility. At the end of the day single girls would write their names and place them into an urn. Each bachelor would pick a name out of the urn and would spend the year with her — thus ensuring fertility for the community. Continue reading

TopGolf Fete In The Colony

TopGolf The Colony hosted a VIP grand opening party last evening with plenty of pretty people on hand. The party’s red carpet was adorned with famous Texans including: Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman; Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo and Bradie James; Dallas Stars players Jordie Benn, Tyler Sequin, Brenden Dillon and Cody Eakin; Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler; PGA Tour players Hunter Mahan and Colt Knost as well as Shy and Charlotte Anderson; along with Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. Other guests included TopGolf The Colony’s Platinum Members and community leaders.

The exclusive, invite only private event featured music and entertainment from DJ Lucy Wrubel, a live art demonstration from Red Bull’s Canvas Cooler Project, prize giveaways, complimentary hors d’oeuvre’s, signature cocktails and, of course, TopGolf play. Billy the Kidd from 106.1 KISS-FM emceed the evening’s festivities with Lili from 102.9 NOW.    Continue reading
