People’s Choice Award Sushi: Yutaka

by Steven Doyle

With votes for Shinsei, Sushi Sake and Tei Tei mentioned often, but there was one clear leader of the pack for this weeks People’s Choice Award for Sushi, Yutaka Sushi Bistro on McKinney Avenue in Dallas.

Dallas has plenty of wonderful sushi options, and certainly we appreciate Tei-An, the five star rated soba house in One Arts Plaza, but this is the People’s Choice and they have spoken.

Yutaka is not only known for their fresh sushi but also as an Izakaya serving Kushiyaki (skewered and grilled meats), Kushiage (more skewers breaded in fresh Panko and fried)and Shabu Shabu (Japanese hot pot).

This weeks award goes out to Yutaka and is given all the bragging rights as winners of this weeks People’s Choice for sushi, plus a beautiful framed plaque suitable for hanging. In addition we selected Cilantro as this weeks reader award and she will receive a $50 gift certificate to a wonderful DFW restaurant.

We have just a few awards left in the 2011 People’s Choice Awards, so check back Monday where we will announce the next category.
