Open House For Sundown at Granada This Week

by Steven Doyle

Conceived from memories of long ago, Sundown at Granada opens this week with an open house on Wednesday, January 4th starting at 4pm.

Named for Sundown, Manitoba, the small burg with a population of 100 located 20 miles north of the Canadian border. Sundown owner Mike Schoder first learned to chop wood, work in a garden and drive a car all before he was 10 years old on his grandmother’s farm located in Sundown.

Water for cooking was drawn from an outside well and the bathroom facility was an outhouse. Sundown was a meeting place for the large family on the weekends; where dining together, laughing and enjoying conversation was the mainstay. Drawing from these memories and based on the love of great food and drink along with spending time with good people, the spirit of Sundown is coming to life here in Dallas.

Sundown is next door to the historic Granada Theater in the space formerly occupied by both The M Street Bar and Mike’s Treehouse at 3520 Greenville Avenue. Sundown will serve an array of over 60 beers and specialty cocktails, along with hand-crafted juices and teas that can be enjoyed alone or with spirits. The kitchen will be open on Friday, January 13th.

Sundown will be open 4pm to 2am, seven days a week.
