Oral Fixation’s New Season Begins Nov 6

by Steven Doyle

Oral Fixation is about telling true stories on stage before a live audience.  Participants reveal their inner souls as they read their work onstage, sharing transformative moments of their life with the DFW community in an intimate setting. These performers are ordinary people who share an exciting moment in their lives. Sometimes the moments are sad, sometimes extremely humorous. They are always entertaining and these shows always sell out.

Oral Fixation kicks off its second season tomorrow evening, November 6,  at 7:30pm at The MAC with the show, “Baby Steps.”  Highlights include a hilarious tale of moving 26 times before buying her first house, a father’s poignant reflection on thirty plus years of child rearing, and regular D Magazine contributor David Hopkins’ piece titled “One Request Before You Leave: How a road trip, the Beatles, and a motel in Missouri made me a better ex-husband.”

Upcoming Season 2 themes include Cold Turkey (Dec. 11), Cloud Nine (Jan. 22), Playing the Field (Feb. 12), Under the Gun (March 26), Miss the Boat (April 23) and Old School (May 14).

Stewart is currently casting for the upcoming shows and you may visit her website to learn more information on how you can participate.

A couple insider tips: The show starts tonight 7:30pm at the Blackbox Theatre inside The MAC. We recommend arriving early for best parking, to have a drink and peruse the galleries. Overflow parking is available behind the building on Oak Grove, in the Cafe Express parking lot as well as behind City Vet across McKinney Ave.
