Urban Taco’s McKinney Avenue location in Uptown will be closing on Saturday, March 31 following dinner service to make way for Velvet Taco.

Creator and Partner of Urban Taco, Markus Pineyro explains they have outgrown the location and chose to not renew the lease after 9 years. The partners feel a different concept such as Velvet Taco is a better fit for the neighborhood at this stage.

“It’s been a seamless and easy transition so far. We’ve been discussing moving the Uptown restaurant to a location that is better suited for our clientele,” explains Pineyro. He says the Del Sur Restaurant Group plans to use the new Mockingbird Station one as the platform and model for all future Urban Taco branded restaurants.

Pineyro wishes to be clear, “We are very much alive and well at the Mockingbird Station restaurant and look forward to taking the newly designed and branded concept to other areas. Uptown is no longer in our business plan but we know Velvet Taco will do very well there.”

  1. Is this a second location for Velvet Taco? I love the Knox Henderson location but it’s difficult when it’s busy
