Mavs Foundation Unveils 20th Reading and Learning Center

Today, October 26, 2020 the Mavs Foundation will virtually unveil their 20th Mavs Reading and Learning Center at Youth World, a non-profit that supports children in South Dallas. Representatives on the call will include Dallas Mavericks Guard, Seth Curry; Mavs CEO, Cynt Marshall; President, Mavs Foundation, Katie Edwards and Executive Director, Youth World, Darla Shirley. The official learning center dedication remarks hosted by Mavericks Emcee, Chris Arnold, will be open to media on Zoom.

After opening remarks, the unveiling of the newest learning center will conclude with an official ribbon cutting and allotted play and exploration time LIVE from the new center with a select group of kids that attend Youth World. Renovations to the Mavs Foundation space include technology donated by the Seth Curry Foundation and ASUS, bookshelves provided by Lowe’s, furniture supplied by Vari, new carpet, fresh paint, a Mavs wall mural and a new STEAM area and green screen wall in partnership with Pro Player’s Foundation. The state-of-the-art STEM area will be home to coding robots, Lego build projects, art tutorial apps and more to encourage the youth to explore.

“Youth World has an inspiring mission to provide hope and economic relief to children and their families in South Dallas,” said Mavs Foundation President Katie Edwards. “We hope that this learning center gives them a fun and safe place to read, learn and dream.”

Mavs Foundation Reading and Learning Centers are designed to expand learning opportunities for reading and education programs, as well as provide Computer Labs and access to technology to assist teens and adults with job-skill training and other valuable tools.
