How to get FREE Fletcher’s Corny Dogs at this year’s State Fair of Texas

In celebration of their 80th Anniversary, Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs will give away 80 Corny Dogs to the first 80 customers in line every Friday (starting Opening Day) throughout the run of the State Fair of Texas at all seven of Fletcher’s locations.

Did you know that Fletcher’s has seven locations? Most people don’t.

PRO TIP: Getting your photo taken with a Corny Dog in front of Big Tex is one of the Fair’s most Instagrammable shots, but it also makes Fletcher’s stand located in Big Tex Circle their most visited location. So for the best chance at a free corny dog, visit any of their other Fair locations! (see attached map).

In 1942, Neil and Carl Fletcher debuted a new food product they called the “corny dog” at the State Fair of Texas. Their creation, it must be said, was not an immediate success. When the Fletchers began selling their corn dogs for $ .15 cents out of a small stand, the response was decidedly restrained. In fact, the brothers had to cut them in half and give away samples before people were willing to try it. After trying out a series of names ranging from K-9 and Brown Bomber to French Fried Hot Dog and Meal on a Stick, the Fletcher brothers finally went back to basics with Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs and began to build a clientele.

It took several years before they felt their unique batter was perfected and since then, it’s never changed. The secret to the famous Fletcher’s Corny Dogs isn’t just the batter, it is also in the water temperature and how the batter is mixed. And that’s all the Fletcher family is going to say about that… The Corny Dog is the undisputed #1 selling food at the

State Fair of Texas with an average of 500,000+ corny dogs sold throughout the Fair’s 24-day run. That’s 60,000 pounds of hot dogs! For 80 years Fletcher’s has been a family-owned and operated business. The third generation of Fletcher’s has now moved into leadership positions within the company and are leading the brand into the future with projects like the partnership with e-commerce site Goldbelly and new food truck that will debut at Klyde Warren Park later this Fall.
