Shodo, the new Japanese concept in the Design District, is now open for lunch in addition to regular dinner service. Lunch service is available Tuesday through Friday from 11 am – 2 pm.
The lunch menu features “Shodo Quick Combos” for those looking to have a quick power lunch. Combo options include seaweed salad or miso soup along with 3, 4 or 5 rolls (classic or hand). The 3 roll combo includes King Salmon, Spicy Tuna and Snow Crab rolls for $25; the 4 roll combo includes those same rolls plus Negitoro for $35; and the 5 roll combo includes all of the previously mentioned rolls and Ebi Katsu for $55.
The menu also showcases lighter options such as the Shodo Wedge – caramelized onions, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, carrot and ginger dressing, soft boiled eggs; Tokyo Niçoise – mixed greens, tuna, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, soft boiled egg, wasabi citronette; Sashimi Salad – yellowtail tuna, salmon, red snapper, shrimp, ginger sesame citronette, cherry tomatoes, spring mix, Japanese sprouts; and Miso Black Cod – white soy, mushroom, scallion.
Heartier dishes include the Wagyu Burger with white cheddar, kewpie mayo, bibb, tomato, grilled onion, house pickles, served with Tokyo fries; Japanese Chicken Fried Rice – onsen egg, scallions, furikake, cilantro, crispy shallots; and the Prime Beef “Katsu” Sandwich with kewpie slaw, katsu sauce, milk bread.
Also on the lunch menu is Shodo’s wide array of sushi roll selections including both signature and classic along with sashimi and nigiri.
To complement the lunch menu, Shodo will offer craft non-alcoholic beverages that will rotate seasonally – the initial menu features fresh creations such as the Perfect Pear – pear juice, white grapes, sage, elderflower, lime, soda; Honey, Please – yuzu, Texas honey, lemon zest, lavender, juniper, soda; and the Matcha Mojito Mocktail – pure maple syrup, matcha, fresh lime juice.
