Musume Opens at The Star in Frisco

Musume, the acclaimed Japanese restaurant from Dallas-based Rock Libations, has opened its newest location at The Star in Frisco. The 6,000-square-foot space offers sushi, sashimi, and authentic Asian cuisine alongside North Dallas’ largest selection of sake and Japanese whisky.

Chef Yuzo Toyama leads the kitchen with a menu that blends Musume favorites and new creations. Highlights include the Lobster “Seoul Train” with shellfish in a spicy Korean broth, Fire & Ice oysters served two ways, short rib wontons with smoked soy broth and truffle, and the Black & Gold Roll with shrimp, fig, and truffle aioli. Guests will also find black cod misozuke, lobster fried rice, sashimi flatbread, and daily omakase menus. Lunch offerings range from sashimi salad to karaage chicken tacos and a bulgogi cheesesteak.

The bar program is equally ambitious. Musume features more than 120 sakes, 60 Japanese whiskies, and an inventive cocktail list crafted by Dallas mixologist Gabe Sanchez, including drinks such as the Ube Painkiller and Black Swan Martini. A daily happy hour features handrolls, tuna tacos, and vegetarian “tofummus” in the lounge and on the patio.

The design balances sleek modern touches with playful details, including a private Tatami room, indoor and outdoor bars, and a 20-foot art installation by Dallas teen artist Zeb Smith. Warm wood, moss accents, and themed restrooms add to the atmosphere.

With its mix of fresh fish flown in daily, curated cocktails, and an expansive sake and whisky list, Musume at The Star delivers a polished Japanese dining experience to Frisco’s growing culinary scene.
