Both Loro Dallas locations Heat Up Late Summer with Favor & Fly by Jing Collaborations

Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar is closing out summer with two collaborations running at both Dallas locations through the end of August, one built for heat-seekers and one built for parents who’ve had enough of the back-to-school scramble.

The bigger of the two, running August 18 through 31, teams Loro with the hot sauce brand Fly By Jing on a limited-time menu called The Heat Index. Five dishes are ranked from Mild to Meltdown, each built around Fly By Jing’s Spicy Vinaigrette and Xtra Crunchy Chili Oil: Smoked Hot Wings at $13.95, Chili Crunch Charred Broccoli at $7.95, a Spicy Fried Chicken Bowl at $16.95, Xtra Spicy Smoked Wings at $13.95, and Smoked Salmon Rangoon with an Xtra Hot Chili Oil dipping sauce at $7.95. A frozen Spicy Sauvy B slushee runs $10 and doubles as the built-in cooldown between rounds, and a bundle with a Loro T-shirt runs $60. The format is meant to be worked through with a table full of people, everyone climbing the ranking at their own pace and comparing notes on who makes it to Meltdown.

The gentler of the two runs slightly longer, August 13 through 31, and pairs Loro with delivery app Favor on a Back-to-School Survival Kit built for families easing into the school year. The $65 family-size kit includes two adult rice bowls, two kids’ rice bowls, one salad, two cookies, and a to-go cocktail or slushee pouch, all packed into a reusable insulated backpack cooler alongside kids’ chopsticks, chopstick “trainers,” a Chopstick Challenge Card, merit badges, and a Smokehouse Supply Guide walking families through the extras.

Each order also comes with a complimentary one-year Favor Gold membership. Through August 31, $10 from every kit sold goes to DonorsChoose, supporting local teachers and classrooms during one of the more expensive stretches of the school calendar.

Both promotions run at Loro’s two Dallas locations: 1812 North Haskell Ave. in East Dallas, and 14999 Montfort Dr. in Addison. The Fly By Jing menu is available for dine-in, and the Favor kit is exclusive to delivery through the Favor app or loroeats.com.

Loro was founded in 2018 by James Beard Award winners chef Tyson Cole and pitmaster Aaron Franklin, building the menu around Southeast Asian and Japanese flavors run through the technique of Texas barbecue. The restaurant has since expanded to Austin and Houston alongside its two Dallas locations, and it’s kept its reputation as much for the patio-and-a-slushee pace of the place as for the smoked meats coming out of the kitchen.
