The streets of Dallas near the AAC were filled with herds of people on Monday, although this particular night the crowds were moving in opposite directions.  What!!–not everyone walking about was headed to watch the Mavs?  The scantily clad tweensters, hipsters, and music-folk alike were headed to the House of Blues for the sold out and highly anticipated Imagine Dragons feature, while dedicated Mavs fans made their way to check out the Hawks.  Continue reading

Wade Bowen and Will Hoge at Granada

Last Friday night Greenville Avenue looked a little different than usual– cowboys boots and starched jeans replaced the typical scene of skinny jeans and v-neck tee’s. As the herds (pun intended) filtered through the sold out, yet organized chaos of the Grenada’s front room and in to the refreshingly cool concert hall (the Grenada wasn’t lying about their renovated A/C) to find the soulful sounds of Will Hoge; a surprising opening act for the classic Texas country artist Wade Bowen, since Hoge had opened at Grenada 4-years prior with the Avett Brothers. However, don’t disregard Mr. Hoge just yet, if you are looking for an artist that has that American guitar sound like the great Tom Petty then you may want to perk up.  Continue reading

AWOL for AWOLNATION

For those who have a gaping hole in their album collection from burning all of their Kings of Leon records after the bands disappointing Dallas show, look no further for the next up and coming phenomenon to hit this great nation. AWOLNATION packed Dallas’ own Prophet Bar on Thursday to fans ranging from the hipster teen to middle aged lawyers. LA’s finest hit the stage with hard hitting sounds from their debut album ‘Megalithic Symphony’. For a band that dropped their first album only 5 months ago, they had the entire crowd singing as though these songs had been playing on the radio for years.  Continue reading
