J Blacks Art Show

Next Wednesday May 4th you can come to J.Black’s Feel Good Lounge for it’s latest art show featuring some of Dallas’ best graffiti and tattoo artists offering up some of their work for sale on canvas and other unique surfaces. MinusWon, Skilz and Rudy IV supply the art and music will be provided by DJ’s Bryan C, Nemesis and Big J. There will be some quite unique pieces that will certainly grab some some attention in your home or business so be sure to get there early before they sell. Door open at 9pm and there is no cover charge.

Say Farewell To Joyce With Free Drinks

Tonight will be the last night at Joyce Lounge the 2 year old club in downtown, as a thank you for it’s patrons there will be an open bar all night long. Yes that means free drinks all night. Joyce is the latest of the closings that have been happening in the nightlife of Dallas and sadly never caught on on as it was a beautiful venue.

Word is something is already in the planning stages to take it’s place. This summer should be bringing a lot of new openings to the ever evolving nightlife scene.

Easy Star All Stars – First Light

Not as much of a normal band but more of a concept with rotating artists filling in as musicians on each release. Originally starting out as a studio band for the Easy Star record label in 1997 they became a hit among reggae fans with the release of “Dub Side Of The Moon” a compilation of Pink Floyd songs remade in the rastafarian style. The Crave – Breaking The Silence

With a band name like The Crave we had to review them. Hailing from Brighton in the UK, but yet sounding very American with anthem rock songs similar to Buckcherry and Nickleback, this new release should be playing on your radio very soon. New Openings in Dallas and Fort Worth

More new openings in the nightlife world are on the horizon. First let’s give a Fort Worth update as the vital hot spots Barcadia and J. Black’s Feel Good Lounge on Henderson Ave in Dallas are opening locations in the new So7 cultural district. Barcadia will be the first to open joining already established restaurants like Chef Tim Love’s burger joint Love Shack and the Austin based Tex Mex spot Chuy’s. Continue reading →

Home Cooking in a Hometown

In the small town of Bonham, a little drive about 70 miles northeast of Dallas sits Cappy’s Cafe. Like many small east Texas towns most all business lies around a courthouse on a downtown square and Bonham stays true with that formula, what makes Cappy’s stand out from the rest of those small towns is that they have been putting out an all you can eat home cooking buffet for almost 6 years now while any many competitors have came and gone.
