Jack Makes Croissant Donuts And They Taste Pretty Good

The lovely flaky layers of pastry that makes up the original cronut, created and trademarked by chef Dominique Ansel in New York, has taken on many forms since its unveiling in early 2013. There have even been several knock-off versions found locally in Dallas, but nothing exactly amazes like the original. Now fast food giant Jack in the Box is making their own attempt, but calls the pastry a Croissant Donut.

For a mere $1.99 you can order three smallish, freshly fried cronuts that are actually pretty delicious. A single bite is .89 cents.    Continue reading

Is The Waffogato The Next Cronut?

Remember the Cronut rage of 2013? Well, the wacky New York pastry chef is back and this time Dominique Ansel has outdone himself.

Like the Cronut before it, the Waffogato fuses two things you never thought to put together and features a waffle made out of ice cream (vanilla with bits of Belgian waffle in it). It is then topped with a maple syrup espresso, and as the “waffle” melts, little pearls of tapioca are revealed in a sexy sweet mess.    Continue reading
