Negroni: The Bitter Truth About a Perfect Drink

The Negroni has a bitter charm that has long defied cocktail trends, outlasting fads with its unwavering simplicity. Its origins trace to Florence, around 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked a bartender to strengthen his Americano by swapping out the soda water for gin. The bartender obliged, added an orange peel instead of a lemon twist, and a classic was born.

What followed was a century of reverence from bartenders and drinkers alike. The Negroni’s bitter backbone, balanced with botanical intrigue and a citrus lift, makes it one of the few cocktails that drinks well before a meal, after a meal, or late into the night. Smyth: The Reservation

Last week the big story in town was the audacity of Smyth in doing what every restaurateur in Dallas wants to do, call out the no shows. On Facebook they wrote:

Smyth September 21 via mobile

Smyth strives to make a personal cocktail for each person that walks through our doors. The reservation-only model is not in place to keep people out, but to preserve the experience of those with the consideration and appreciation to make reservations for that experience.

That being said, The Smyth Family would like to personally thank the people that care enough to make a reservation, (especially large groups) & then decide not show up (or even call) while other, more-appreciative patrons would have wanted the aforementioned experience we planned.
