An Evening Under The Stars At Urbano

DSC00984by Steven Doyle

Keeping up with chef Misti Norris can be a full time career with all her pop-ups , appearances and consulting work she seems to be getting, and this is all a good thing. Last evening we caught up with the young and talented chef behind what used to be Tom Spicer’s garden and now is a playground for the owners of Urbano Cafe, Kristen and Mitch Kauffman.

There is plenty of love to be found on Fitzhugh near Bryan Street. Sheer happiness as the conversation elevates with a second pour of the BYOB wine you supplied. You may now purchase by the glass or bottle next door. Continue reading

urbanoby David Indorf

Under the able hand of Chef Ke’o Velasaquez, Urbano Café grew into one of the city’s dining meccas, a not-so-well-kept secret among Dallas foodies.  Affable owner Mitch Kauffman and his capable staff keep the tiny space humming in a swirling but efficiently choreographed ballet, the restaurant’s intimate interior lending itself to not infrequent exchanges of BYO wine bottles between tables populated by strangers.  The noise level can be difficult at times, but diners don’t go to Urbano for pinky-out dining; they go for impeccably prepared food that never fails to satisfy.          Continue reading
