Goodfriend Preview Party

by Steven Doyle

Josh Yingling and Matt Tobin owners of the yet-to-open Goodfriend, a beer and burger bar, hosted a preview party weeks before the doors will open for business to give some glad tidings to their anxious followers this past Sunday.  You may know Tobin from such successes as Vickery Park on Henderson and in Plano (with another location rumored to open soon).

The anxious crowd was treated to several great craft beers and shots of Jamison (the new shot of choice for the masses replacing Jagermeister).

Included in the beer line up for the very hot afternoon included tastings of Brooklyn Brewery, Harpoon, Stone Brewing, Ommengang, and Avery.

The crowd hosted many refined local beer geeks such as cicerone Jeff Fryman from The Common Table (who partner with Vickery and their respective beer programs), and many other industry people that were enjoying their Sunday afternoon off from serving, pouring, cooking or otherwise servicing the city.

Also on tap is the increasingly popular N2 Wines that we are seeing pop up at more locations monthly.  The Commissary serves N2 tap wine.

The bar was not quite finished and owners estimate a few more weeks of work is left to complete the project and open their doors.

Interesting enough, neighbors of the new beer bar, Good 2 Go owner Jeana Johnson said that she will be making the burgers for the pub, and that can only be a good thing.  They will be serving the same grass-fed beef that G2G is famous for, and the pub will offer beer and food pairings from their 25 expected taps.  Goodfriend indeed.

Goodfriend is located at 1154 Peavey Road next to Good 2 Go Tacos and close to where Marc Cassel is setting up his restaurant.
