Dallas Beer Week is upon us and craveDFW plans to be your source for all things beer during the coming week leading up to the first events beginning this weekend. For the past few weeks we have been scouring the city in search of the best places to have a good craft beer during the nearly 90 (and growing) activities planned so far.
We chatted with Cathy Rascoe, the organizer of Dallas Beer Week and she said, “It has been a true labor of love for us and we are really excited that the Dallas craft beer community has embraced it. We really hope to make everyone proud and happy with the results this year and for several years to come.”
Rascoe also was the organizer of Houston’s very successful Beer Week.
As the week progresses we plan to bring you a snapshot of the various pubs that will be hosting activities for Beer Week. We think the first day may very well be the most difficult challenge for scheduling. Choose wisely.
The week starts November 12th and runs through the 19th with a huge beer bash at Fair Park the final Saturday.
Here is a look at opening day:
Deep Ellum Brewery launches their opening this Saturday, November 12th at The Common Table. Deep Ellum will be bringing four of their new brews, so this is certain to be a party. 2917 Fairmount, Dallas.
Further north Franconia kicks off the week with a party at Franconia Brewing Company in McKinney. Dennis Wehrmann will be serving Koelsch, Lager, Wheat (Hefeweizen), Dunkel (Dark Lager) and Fallen Bock (Dark Douple Bock). The festivities begin at 2pm and go until 5pm. The cost is $7 with 50% of that going to a local homeless charity. 495 McKinney Parkway, McKinney.
The Ginger Man celebrates their 20th anniversary on opening Saturday. When a bar like Ginger Man has a birthday like this, you can bet that the breweries have pulled out a lot of great beers to send their way. We would not be surprised to see a jaw-dropping line up of amazing craft beers. You will just have to show up to find out. 2718 Boll St., Dallas.
There are many incredible events planned and you can check them all out on DBW’s website.
One very important event you will want to make plans for is the Mikkeller/Jester King Beer Dinner – uber brewer, Mikkel Borg Bjergo of Mikkeller fame, will come to Dallas for the first time and join fellow brewer (and collaborator on Drink’n The Sunbelt), Jeff Stuffings of Jester King, for an insane evening of brewing genius. The event is sold-out, but there will be an “after party” beginning at 10pm for those who weren’t lucky enough to score tickets.
