Last night we were invited to pre-screen the upcoming television premier of a locally produced foodie show call Local Fare. This is the media foray of restaurateurs Kyle Noonan and Josh Sepkowitz who own a Bowl and Barrel, Mutts and the soon to open The Rustic, which will be this amazing music venue in Uptown Dallas.
The television program will air on Saturday at 5 p.m. on KTXA 21 (CBS), then replay Sunday at 9:30pm. The show revolves around three invited guests who are not related to the restaurant industry or media. These are average people that have a single thing in common they love restaurants. During the program the trio of guests discuss their favorite restaurants and visit them as a group. After each visit they discuss and rate their meals.
The first program, which airs this weekend, the trio of guests venture to Bolsa, Louie’s, and in Fort Worth, Ellerbe’s. There is plenty of in-restaurant footage, and in the case of Bolsa, executive chef Jeff Harris gets plenty of screen time to discuss his style of cooking.
Local Fare is light hearted, fast paced and well produced. The opportunities to highlight local restaurants is a fun proposition, but also allows local restaurant goers a cool venue to discuss their favorite hot spots.
If you wish to be one of the three critics for a day, there will be opportunities in the near future as the program has been picked up for an entire season.

Avanti Restaurant on McKinney Avenue (just north of Pearl) at Worthington has been my fav for over 20-years. They have the best ceviche I have ever experienced anywhere and all menu items are diverse and always beyond my expectations. They have a small bar area but the drinks are generous and they have a wide selection of wines. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, whether you dine inside or on the patio’s. They typically have different music venues each night and their valet service is the best I have ever used where my vehicle is waiting for me before I leave my table. They are open very late on Saturday’s and offer great breakfast till 2am on Sunday morning. This intimate and personalized restaurant is one of Dallas’ best kept secrets you’re sure to make it one of your favorite spots.
