Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., which started the North Texas craft brewing movement more than decade ago, will mark its 11th anniversary in October. Owners Fritz and Erin Rahr and the Rahr & Sons team will celebrate the occasion by releasing a new beer and hosting events at the brewery.

Rahr & Sons’ 11th anniversary beer, a Russian Imperial Stout with Toasted Coconut, will be released the week of Oct. 26. Touted as the king of all stouts, the beer has rich chocolate and caramelized malt flavors with a hint of toasted coconut. It will be available as a 22-ounce bottle and on tap around Dallas-Fort Worth; craft beer lovers can search for it in their area

The beer will debut on tap at the brewery’s 11th anniversary events Oct. 23-24. On Friday, Oct. 23, Rahr & Sons will host a VIP beer tasting from 7-10 p.m. with more than 40 different brews. Select beers include: Iron Thistle, The Regulator, Azacca to Me IPL, Funkwerks Collaboration, Midnight Cab, and the ninth, 10th and 11th anniversary beers. Attendees will receive a commemorative pint glass, and enjoy live music from High School Caesar, as well as food trucks with meals available for purchase. Tickets are $25 and only 500 will be available.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, the brewery will host an extended tasting from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Attendees will receive a commemorative glass to sample a selection of beers, including an oak barrel of 2011 Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer and a firkin of Angry Goat aged on chocolate covered banana chips. They also will enjoy live music and food trucks, Lee’s Grilled Cheese and 3 Parrots, with meals available for purchase. VIP tickets are $25, which allow early access from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; only 500 will be available. Regular admission is $10 and will be limited to 1000 pre-sale tickets.

Tickets for both events will go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 15 and can be purchased at their website.

In the past 11 years, Rahr & Sons has had a significant impact on Fort Worth and the community, attracting thousands of people to the area, employing a growing, close-knit staff of 23, providing fundraising opportunities for local non-profits, and raising more than $40,000 through annual charitable events, like the Oktoberfest 5K.
