Edge of Texas This Weekend, Contest to Win Passes

Texas Monthly has released the full schedule for their second annual The Edge of Texas weekend, presented by VisitDallas, taking place in downtown Dallas on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th. Weekend passes as well as tickets to each of the three events during the weekend are available here.

The Edge of Texas – celebrating most fascinating and entertaining subjects, ideas, stories and people in Texas – begins with a special opening night event, “Among the Outlaws: Live Music + Documentary Film + Conversations,” on September 7th at Belo Mansion & Pavilion. This exploration of the outlaw music movement features clips from the documentary “They Called Us Outlaws,” discussions with the filmmaker and its stars, and performances by Joe Ely, Jessi Colter, Jack Ingram, Holly Williams and more.

The events of Saturday, September 8th start with a day full of enlightening and entertaining editorial Q&As, storytelling and discussions with Texas thought leaders at the Belo Mansion & Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests will explore the best of Texas through several distinct lenses: culture, business, cuisine, film, politics, and more. The Edge of Texas weekend will come to a close Saturday night at The Empire Room with the finale celebration, Texas Coming Together, a fusion of statewide creativity featuring cuisine by top chefs from around the state, one-of-a-kind experiences designed by the state’s most innovative minds, and live entertainment.

Friday, September 7 // The Belo Mansion & Pavilion

“Among the Outlaws: Live Music + Documentary Film + Conversations” Kickoff Event

A special exploration of the outlaw music movement featuring never-before-seen film clips from the highly anticipated documentary “They Called Us Outlaws,” presented in association with the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, spirited discussions with the filmmaker and its stars, and performances by Joe Ely, Jessi Colter, Jack Ingram, Holly Williams, and more. The 90-minute one-of-a-kind film and music program includes open bar and valet. VIP party begins at 7:00 PM with a pre-show performance, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres. Featuring ‘The Bachelorette’ TV star Rachel Lindsay and RuPaul’s Drag Race TV star Alyssa Edwards, moderated by Executive Editor Skip Hollandsworth. The reality of reality TV by two stars – both accomplished before and after their time on TV. Featuring original Prosecutor Toby Shook, moderated by Executive Editor Skip Hollandsworth. In the mid-nineties, Darlie Routier was accused of stabbing her two young sons. Featuring comedian Mo Amer, moderated by Texas Monthly Writer-At-Large and host of The National Podcast Of Texas, Andy Langer. When Amer was just nine years old, his family fled Kuwait and settled in Houston. Immigtation issues have always been a central theme of his stand-up, and on the eve of Netflix releaing his first comedy special, we’ll discuss the situation at the border, flying without a passport, performing for the military, and what he’s learned from Dave Chappelle.
