With all of the eponymous Kenny Bowers restaurants in DFW (Kenny’s Burgers, Kenny’s Wood-Fired Grill, etc.), it can be hard to keep up. Luckily, Kenny’s Smoke House in The Shops at Legacy is cooking up a whole bunch of new brunch options that won’t soon be forgotten.
Kenny’s Smokehouse has been open in The Shops at Legacy since January of 2013, however, the brick-and-wood barbeque joint didn’t start serving brunch until about a year ago, when they had secretly begun testing out new brunch items that weren’t listed on the menu. Now, every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., guests can choose from six delectable brunch items.
Among Kenny’s brunch items is Ross’s Chicken Fried Brisket and Eggs. This plate contains three strips of brisket, each coated in flour and pan-fried. The strips are topped with a thick jalapeño gravy and two strips of bacon. While the idea of Chicken Fried Brisket may sound unconventional in comparison to a chicken fried steak, but Kenny’s brisket is thick, hearty, and flavorful, with juices oozing out with each cut. The crispy coating makes for a good old southern crunch. The chicken fried brisket comes served with a side of scrambled eggs, which are cooked to a fluffy, pillowy consistency.
Another great brunch item from Kenny’s Smokehouse is the Chicken & Waffles, which is a plate of waffles topped with three southern fried chicken strips. The Chicken & Waffles is best when ordered with the spicy syrup, a sweet, sticky concoction with red pepper flakes, crafted to give the Chicken & Waffles a fiery, piquant kick.
Guests of Kenny’s Smoke House can also enjoy $1 mimosas during brunch time, along with other breakfast themed cocktails like the Espresso Martini.
