Tacodeli Take Over the JBH in April

Beloved restaurant brand, Tacodeli with 4 Dallas-area locations, has more to celebrate than 20-years of honoring the humble taco. Tacodeli has been invited to cook at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City on April 16, 2020.

Chef and Co-Founder Roberto Espinosa and his team will host a “Texas Taco Party” utilizing the quality ingredients that Tacodeli is known for. This invite to cook for the James Beard Foundation underscores the brand’s superior sourcing and focus on approachable, wholesome food that Tacodeli fans experience on daily basis.

The event will include a variety of dishes inspired by Espinosa’s Mexico City upbringing, travels throughout Mexico, and Tacodeli’s menu of over 40 unique mainstay tacos, complemented by cocktails, beer and wine.

Since Tacodeli was founded, the integrity of ingredients and centrality of food culture has been a guiding principle, always striving to work with the most respected ranchers, farmers and producers across Texas. At the James Beard dinner, Tacodeli is bringing along some of its favorite Texas partners, including:

  • HeartBrand Beef – Strongly represented on Tacodeli’s everyday menu, the superior beef from the family-owned cattle ranchers will bring delicious, source-verified Akaushi to the Beard House.
  • La Norteña Tortillas – Born in Northern Mexico, Luis Fernando Pérez learned how to make tortillas from his mother and will be making a recipe that has been passed from generation to generation.
  • Pinthouse – The award-winning brewery was created with a passion for craft ingredients, focused on ecological sustainability. The popular Electric Jellyfish IPA, voted Austin’s Best Overall Beer for four years running, will be served.
  • Las Almas Rotas – Dallas’ first mezcaleria will be pouring cocktails, showcasing a range of Mexican distillates that have a focus on ethical and sustainable practices. Owners Taylor Samuels, grandson to the Maker’s Mark founder, and co-owner Leigh Kvetko will be behind the bar.

Menu highlights include Chile Relleno Especial made with Texas Quail Farm Chorizo and Chipotle Chile and Oaxaca Cheese, Aguachile de Camaron made with Texas Gulf Shrimp, Tomatillo Salsa Verde, Serrano Chiles and Lime, HeartBrand Ranch Texas Akaushi Beef Confit with Chile and Sesame Adobo Picosito and much more.

About Tacodeli

Tacodeli founder Roberto Espinosa was born and raised in Mexico City. His exposure to interior Mexico City street tacos, experience working as an apprentice chef in the Yucatán, travel in Central Mexico and many of Mexico’s coastal regions have all had a profound influence on his approach to food. Tacodeli opened its doors in 1999 in Austin, TX and soon thereafter, Eric Wilkerson joined Tacodeli as co-owner alongside Roberto.  Tacodeli currently operates 11 locations in Austin, Dallas, Plano and Houston.

About La Norteña Tortillas 

Having grown up in Northern Mexico, in the State of Sonora, founder Luis Fernando Pérez’s love for flour tortillas developed as he witnessed his mother make them by hand one by one. His mother’s recipe for tortillas de harina has been passed down from generation to generation, and at Tortilleria La Norteña, they make them as meticulously as they were made in Cananea, Sonora.
