For Dallas diners looking to feel transported to France, Mercat Bistro, the Parisian-inspired bistro nestled in the Harwood District, is now offering weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The authentically appointed restaurant also features new weekday breakfast and lunch menus all created by Mercat Bistro’s Executive Chef, Taylor Kearney, an award-winning chef who is well-versed in French cuisine.
Chef Kearney, who trained under many notable chefs including Charlie Palmer, Anne-Sophie Pic and Thomas Keller, worked tirelessly on perfecting the new Mercat Bistro menus over the course of 2020. He says, “We hope guests feel as if they have escaped to Paris and are dining street-side in the ‘City of Lights’. We are serving up buttery croissants, indulgent sandwiches, soul-warming soup and crisp salads perfect for fall.”
The new brunch service offers options Pour La Table (appetizers), Soupe & Salades, Entrees and Les Classiques. Standout items include Braised Escargot – lardons, cèpes, red wine jus, maître d’ butter; Lyonnaise Salad – frisée, lardons, poached egg, sweet mustard vinaigrette; Strawberries Romanoff Crepes – crème Chantilly, strawberry compote; Parisian Gnocchi – pâte à choux dumpling, pickled shallots, carrot, beurre blanc; Pan Roasted Saumon – Scottish salmon, lentils, beurre blanc; and French Dip – prime ribeye, charred peppers, caramelized onion, horseradish, gruyere, au jus.
Open for coffee, tea, and grab-and-go beginning weekdays at 7 a.m., dine-in breakfast is served Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a variety of fresh Pâtisseries (pastries) available including croissants, Pain Au Chocolat, muffins and Cinnamon Rolls. Breakfast Sandwiches and Entrees are also available with menu items including the classic French sandwich, the Croque Madame – brioche, mornay and crisp potatoes; Quiche Florentine – chèvre and mixed greens; Provençal Omelet – egg whites, roasted peppers, spinach, goat cheese and crisp potatoes; Breakfast Baguette – fried egg, brie, duck confit, orange marmalade, crisp potatoes.
Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with an extensive menu that includes French dishes such as Tartare de Boeuf – tenderloin, Dijon, cornichon, brioche; Moulles Frites – mussels, shellfish-saffron broth, rouille, grilled bread, pommes frites; Crisp Chicken Paillard – butter lettuce, cress, radish, chèvre, lemon vinaigrette; Mercat Burger – brisket short rib blend, brioche, gruyere, aioli, caramelized onion, bibb lettuce, frites. Accompagnements (sides) are also available such as Brussels Sprouts – garlic confit, lardons, almonds; Winter Mushrooms with maître d’ butter; and Pommes Purée – Yukon gold potatoes, cultured butter, sel gris.
