Oak’d Brings Cozy, Hearty Barbecue to Old Town Shopping Center

The hotly anticipated Oak’d BBQ is now open. The Central Texas-inspired barbecue joint offers indulgent delights like burnt ends, sausage, chicken and wagyu brisket in a cozy, home-like setting.

Oak’d was originally slated to open this spring, but was pushed back due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They officially opened earlier this month, with radio personality Kellie Raspberry and husband Allen Evans as investors.

You’ll want to start things off with one of Oak’d’s signature cocktails. We recommend the frosty ranch water, a cold, slushy cocktail made with El Jimador tequila, Topo Chico, agave and lime.

It’s easy to go full glutton at Oak’d, but you certainly can’t leave without trying the wagyu brisket. From its crispy, spicy outer layer to juicy, savory inside, this brisket is a flavorgasmic experience. You’re going to want to balance out all of that meat with some veggies; you know, to create the illusion of healthy eating. The balsamic roasted brussel sprouts or the tri-colored quinoa are delicious, light sides.

Assuming you even have room for dessert after dinner, you’ll have to try the signature banoffee, a dessert comprised of bananas, cream and toffee. Desserts are made by pastry chef Cessy Mendoza, whose resume boasts experience at Nobu and Abacus. Oak’d is located at 5500 Greenville Avenue, Suite 1300
