Monarch, New Modern Italian Restaurant to Open in Dallas March 10th

Monarch, the highly anticipated wood-fired modern Italian restaurant led by two-time Michelin-starred Chef Danny Grant is slated to open on Wednesday, March 10th. Located at the top of The National and alongside the new Thompson Dallas at 1401 Elm St, Dallas, TX 75202, reservations for Monarch are now open and can be made at monarchrestaurants.com.

“I am incredibly proud of our talented team. They have brought their best design and creativity in making Monarch a reality,” said Chef Danny Grant. “We are now focused on polishing the smallest details and refining our steps of service to open our doors in less than four weeks and show Dallas what we love to do most.”

Grant’s attention to detail is unparalleled and matched by his impressive culinary pedigree. With an open kitchen concept, Monarch will deliver a menu focused on light, modern Italian cuisine. The heart of the restaurant is the wood-fired hearth where guests will be treated to fresh Wood-Oven Roasted Jumbo Prawns charred to perfection with sea salt, salsa verde, cilantro, fennel pollen, and Calabrian chili peppers. They will experience an array of chilled and raw offerings, including simple oysters on the half shell, wagyu carpaccio, and a variety of caviar and crudo.

Handmade pastas are available every night, including Giant Bucatini, a cacio e pepe made with sheep’s milk pecorino and a peppercorn blend, and Oxtail Mezzaluna, made with dijon, garlic, trumpet mushrooms, and cherry rosemary jus. For those seeking fish, Monarch offers a collection of incredible options, including a Salt-Crusted Whole Gulf Snapper, stuffed with herbs and lemon and cooked in the wood-fired oven with capers, fennel, and espelette, and Dover Sole, prepared with lemon, spinach, chanterelles, capers, and brown butter.

The Butchers Reserve section is where guests can find a selection of grain and grass-fed steaks and chops slow-roasted over a wood fire and cooked with love and passion, including a Bone-In Filet Mignon and Wagyu Tomahawk. For those who are looking for a show-stopping ‘for-the-table’ experience, guests will be able to select a Whole Live Alaskan King Crab from Monarch’s saltwater tank and enjoy a chef-driven journey that includes chilled black truffle and herb crab salad, fire-roasted crab legs glazed with Calabrian chili pepper jus, crab butter & sauce served alongside a traditional crab roll covered in herbs, savory crunchies, and chili oil.

Located at the top of The National and alongside the new Thompson Dallas, Monarch’s expansive and elegant space is the ultimate expression of luxury dining in Dallas. Todd Interests, the developer and award-winning real estate firm based in Dallas, worked alongside Caroline Todd of Todd Interiors and the Chicago-based interior design firm Simeone Deary Design Group and Heidi Lightner Architects, to bring to life a dazzling 49th-floor restaurant with intimate seating, all of which offer soaring views of the city. Guests are ushered to the seductive leather-clad ebony bar or through the two-story conservatory which showcases a grand spiral staircase, floral-patterned wall coverings, and a whimsical chandelier made of hand-formed metal and glass crystals custom designed by Simeone Deary and fabricated by Yellow Goat Design. Behind the conservatory, a jewel box-like ‘study’ serves as a private dining room, richly appointed in deep emerald green tones with panel molding walls, luxurious velvet drapes and all accented by a classical Louis XV carved white Carrera marble fireplace. The main dining areas feature more than 280 seats with skyline views of Dallas. Upon walking up the spiral staircase you’ll find the Monarch private dining spaces that accommodate various size gatherings from 12-120 people for all types of celebrations.

Directly above Monarch, Kessaku, a sushi and sake lounge from Chef Danny Grant and Chef Hari Chan, will be an intimate 60-seat lavishly designed restaurant centered around fresh, globally sourced fish and seafood flown in daily, artisanal warm rice, and an extensive collection of sake and Japanese whiskey. Kessaku will open towards the end of March.

Monarch is located in downtown Dallas at 1405 Elm St, Dallas, TX 75202, and is open seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Valet parking is available for those choosing to drive.
