Denton County mayors are vying for the best pizza creation while raising money for charities.
August 23, 2023. Location: Motor City Pizza, 1425 FM 407, Lewisville. 4:30 – 7:00pm
Each participating Mayor will be given a Detroit Style dough (or hand tossed round or gluten-free if they
prefer) with cheese already on it. The mayor’s job is to create the pizza with the toppings of their choice. Any topping that is on the menu will be available to each mayor. If a mayor would like to create something with ingredients that we do not have, we ask that mayor to bring that specialized ingredient.
There will be house marinara, our house alfredo, and other dressings and drizzles (ranch, chipotle ranch, Mike’s Hot Honey, Greek dressing, etc.). Any other sauce or dressing not on our menu, that a mayor would like to use, will be brought by them.
Mayors need to submit their pizza concept and toppings to Motor City Pizza 2 days prior to the event. We will have each mayor “pizza-making station” set up with dough and all requested toppings. The mayor’s pizza idea should be kept a secret until after the judging. Judges should not know what pizza belongs to which mayor.

Pizza production starts at 4:45 – 5pm. Motor City Pizza staff will handle the cooking of the pizzas. Judging is scheduled to start at 5:45.
Judging is based on four categories – 1.) Appearance 2.) Execution 3.) Taste/Flavor 4.) Overall
Product/Package. Each category will be judged with a score from 1 to 10. So, the absolute maximum score per judge will be 40pts.
There will be an assembled group of judges to judge that night’s pizza. Judging will take place on stage at the event center located next door to Motor City Pizza. It is anticipated eight mayors competing, therefore, to save time they will break the judging in two divisions. Each division will have its own separate group of judges. The winner of each division will square off in the championship round (with their pizza going to the opposite judges for the final rating)
Mayors need to select a charity to compete for. We recommend choosing a charity you are familiar with that will give you strong support. Fundraising will carry equal weight as one judge and the score for fundraising will be 1% of the money raised (with a maximum of 40 pts). So, if your charity raises $4k or higher you will have a 40pt score from “the fundraising” that gets added in with the other judge’s scores.
All fundraising totals will have to be turned in by 5:30 the night of the event.
