Iron Fork is tonight at the Fashion Industry Gallery on Akard across from the Dallas Fairmont Hotel. This walk around foodie event will be well attended by area chefs who will present tastes from their respective restaurants, as well wine, beer and spirits samplings all benefiting the March of Dimes.
The March of Dimes has always been an organization that I personally stand behind having served previously on the board of directors. What was originally started to eradicate polio in the 30’s has now become a major source of funding for pediatric science and to prevent birth defects.
Tonight’s event is sponsored by our friends at the Dallas Observer and Whole Foods Market. They did a fantastic job of lining up many of our top restaurants and purveyors, including some not normally seen at such events like Bambu, First Chinese BBQ and Chameli. Chameli is the family run restaurant in Richardson with the amazing chicken biryani.
I am personally excited to see Lockhart Smokehouse in the mix as well.
The event is being hosted by the big daddy of all chefs and a true Iron Chef slayer, Kent Rathbun. In addition to the regular buzz about from table to table sampling fare the event will also sport a Iron Chef-like battle between Scott Romano from Charlie Palmers at the Joule and Gilbert Garza from Suze Restaurant on Northwest Highway. Both are very bad-ass chefs in their own right.
I am particularly stoked about this battle because I have been invited to help judge the competition. I have judged many competitions in the past few years but this event has me super excited.
