Your drive to McKinney for BBQ just got a little shorter, but not by a much.

Hutchins BBQ is bringing its hometown dining ambiance and award-winning BBQ to Frisco with the grand opening of their second location this September. The 8,000 plus square-foot space is located at 9225 Preston Rd and will serve the same great barbecue that was named to the Texas Monthly “50 Best BBQ Joints in Texas” list.

“We can’t wait to bring our friendly Hutchins service and great barbecue to Frisco,” says Hutchins Co-Owner and Pitmaster, Tim Hutchins. “Our family has put a great amount of care into our restaurant for over 30 years, and we are excited for the city of Frisco to be able to experience our excellent BBQ.”

To celebrate the opening the restaurant will host a Texas-sized bash for the Frisco community on Saturday, September 20 from 12-3PM. Guests will be able to enjoy delicious Hutchins barbecue while live music plays throughout the day. Cold drinks and a good time will also be provided, welcoming the city to the Hutchins family in signature, southern style.

Fans of Hutchins in McKinney will be excited to find their favorite BBQ meats offered in Frisco, including the restaurant’s signature smoked St. Louis Ribs, Brisket, and Homemade Sausage. The menu will also feature their classic like All You Can Eat BBQ and fresh veggie sides. Hutchins’ original BBQ sauce will be available to top off each dish, providing a taste that is sweet, bitter and hot, all at the same time.

Known as “Roy’s Smokehouse” back in 1978, Hutchins BBQ was originally a small space connected to founder Roy Hutchins’ home. Unlike many restaurants that cooked with gas, Hutchins insisted upon using fine pecan wood to cook and flavor the meats, with fresh meat coming from the pit throughout the day. The care and craft he put into his barbecue led to a rapid demand for his product, and in 1991 the restaurant relocated to its current location off Tennessee Street in McKinney. Hutchins retired fifteen years later, leaving the business to his son Tim and General Manager Dustin Blackwell. Working together as co-owners since 2005, Dustin heads day-to-day operations as the face of the business and Tim leads the kitchen as Pitmaster.

BBQ fans will have the opportunity to enjoy what some consider the best BBQ in Texas from Wednesday to Sunday at the new Frisco location. The hours of operation will be 11:00 AM until the BBQ runs out.
