The much loved Uptown seafood haunt, Shell Shack, is set to open its door in Plano sometime in March. The latest location is situated at Park and the Tollway, a popular hot spot for many new restaurants. We spoke today with one of the partners of Shell Shack, Dallas Hale, and he said that the equipment has already been delivered, all licenses were in place (typically the largest obstacle for any bar or restaurant), and he is just waiting for the build out to be finished and to train a new staff. This is exciting news for those that love spicy crabs, shrimp, and crawfish.
The menu also has a selection of sandwiches, soup and gumbo, oysters, and much more. But the big draw, at least for us, is the Dungeness crab delivered to your table steaming in a melange of spices. At the height of crawfish season, which has just begun, you will find enormous Grade A mud bugs. For those with a more delicate palate, the spice level is in your total control which could be dialed down to a simple steam. Also, if you are a tad bit squeamish the staff will actually shell your crabs for you.
Hale said that he is currently scouting a third location which will most likely be in Tarrant County.
