If you missed Chefs for Farmers this weekend you missed out on the best food and wine event in Texas. Dozens of chefs are paired up with farmers to help promote their products. And if that is not enough they are also paired with equally as many wineries. But that is not all, you would have found local breweries and distilleries at hand sampling out to your heart’s content.

The ticket price includes a day of sun, music, food and drink. Dean Fearing provided music all day. New this year, Chef John Tesar (Knife) has invited some of the top pitmasters in the nation to add their barbecue best to the event. Award-winning chefs in attendance at The Main Event include Billy Durney (Hometown Bar-B-Que), Sam Jones (Sam Jones BBQ), Stephen McHugh (Cured), Alex Seidell (Mercantile), Tyson Cole (Uchi) and many others.

Local pitmasters included Matt Pittman from Meat Church and Doug Pickering from Ferris Wheelers. Both are as charming as their briskets are delicious. It is a joy to be able to chat with the masters of smoke and grab a bit of advice and banter.

This year Iris Midler and her staff of dozens took over the Dallas Heritage Park which made an amazing backdrop for this event giving guests an up close look at one of Dallas’ finest assets.

Joey Stewart has prepared a photo peek at the main event:
