Al Biernat’s Earns 2023 Wine Spectator Restaurant Award

Al Biernat’s has been honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2023 Restaurant Awards, which celebrate the world’s best restaurants for wine. Both locations Al Biernat’s North and Oak Lawn have been recognized with this honor.

“In a time of technological innovation, restaurants offer the human experience diners are hungry for—listening to their customers and offering personalized experiences,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher of Wine Spectator.

“This annual issue celebrates the places where wine is at the top of that conversation. I’m pleased to congratulate all 3,505 restaurants for their dedication to wine and wine-loving diners.”

Al Biernat’s Wine Director Sommeliers, Miguel Arias at the Oak Lawn location, and Brian Hardin at the North location manage the Wine Program and each restaurant’s wine selection. Each location offers a broad range of vineyards, varietals, and vintages all of which are personally selected by Arias and Hardin. “We are humbled and truly appreciative to attain the Best of Award of Excellence,” said Miguel Arias, Wine Director, and Sommelier at Al Biernat’s Oak Lawn.

“This award is attributed to our guest’s impeccable style and their continued search for quality. Due to this level of loyalty, Al Biernat’s was honored to elevate the direction of the wine program and provide consistent attention to the depth and availability of such requests. Salud!” Arias said.

“We pride ourselves in offering a large selection of high-quality wines and premier service to the Dallas community. We appreciate Wine Spectator for recognizing us and Al Biernat’s for this on a national and worldwide level,” added Brian Hardin, Wine Director Sommelier Al Biernat’s North.

Launched in 1981, the Restaurant Awards represent the world’s only program focused exclusively on restaurant wine service. They are assigned on three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award, with 2,001; 1,411; and 93 winners this year in each respective category.

Al Biernat’s has won the Best of Award of Excellence. The Best of Award of Excellence recipients display excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation.
