We spoke with Jeff Harris earlier this afternoon after he finished his first lunch shift at Bolsa. The new-to-Oak-Cliff chef could not have been a more suitable choice for the restaurant that is due for a menu make-over, along with the opening of latest concept for the company Mercado Bolsa that will be opening its doors in November.
As expected, the chef was elated to finally land where his talent will be fully exercised, and we are excited to see the team Harris and Matt Balke (formerly of York Street) back in action once again.
Harris mentioned today, “I wanted to find the perfect venue to work with, be it my own or one of several others I had been in talks with. Bolsa made an offer that made offer and since my style is so similar to what they are doing I was eager to come aboard.”
When asked if there would be any immediate changes the chef said, “Not just yet. We will be working to get Mecardo up and running then possibly look at some changes towards the first of the year.”
Look for Harris to be making many of his signature items such as house-made charcurterie.
Bolsa Mercado will be located at 634 West Davis Street in Oak Cliff and will feature lighter fare, wines, produce and other market items as well as space for larger private parties.
Mercado Bolsa is the vision of Christopher Zielke, Christopher & Jessica Jeffers, Royce Ring and Alex Urrunaga who also have interest in Smoke located at the Belmont Hotel also located in Oak Cliff.
