Tesar Rolls Out Lunch And Brunch At Spoon And It Is Breathtaking

tesarby Steven Doyle

Chef John Tesar will debut lunch and brunch service at his four-star seafood restaurant in Dallas’ Preston Center, Spoon Bar & Kitchen, on Sunday, May 12th. Kicking off with a special Mother’s Day brunch menu, Spoon will open for weekday lunch and Sunday brunch. Earlier this week Tesar opened his doors at noon for a special media tasting, and we have some good news: Spoon is just as good during the day as it is in the evening.

For brunch, expect to see dishes that highlighting fresh, sustainable seafood such as smoked salmon and caviar omelet, soft shell crab BLT, and orange dusted lobster and olive oil-poached artichokes.  The lineup will also include some non-fish dishes such as eggs royal, steak and eggs, and hazelnut brioche French toast with Irish bacon and Vermont maple syrup.

During luncheon service throughout the week guests will enjoy much of the same dishes offered Tesar has been offering at night. Do not expect to see the requisite burger that Dallas seems so fond of, but instead enjoy a ration of crudos, light and airy pasta dishes, and a play on ramen that will make you stand at attention.

That ramen is worth another nod. The broth is very rich and flavorful, with a slight smokiness. Except for the house-made noodles, the dish might remind you of a very nice bouillabaisse. It is chockfull of sea creatures and also features a silky slab of pork belly. This is a hearty dish, and for $29 could easily make two meals.

Tesar mentioned that he would do a tasting menu as a kicked up business lunch for the expense account set. With the new lunch offerings at Spoon you now have a very refined option for those special moments where you want only the best. We did not sample the lobster roll or other sandwiches, but we saw them zing past our table and looked delicious. We will be back soon to devour. Until then, we reminisce:

  1. Gabe

Good lobster roll, but skimped on the amount of lobster meat.

Due to high demand, the job prospect is getting higher.
They behave in much the same way as light rays, but at much shorter wavelengths.
