We know our readers love to follow the food trucks and there are plenty making the scene in DFW. We estimate at least five this month alone. Here is a truck we chatted about a few months ago that is now ready to hit the streets, Dos Paisanos. Go back and read that emdearing story. Continue reading

Anti-VDay at Frankies
We will probably be hearing more of these crop up, but there is an Anti-Valentine’s Day Party hosted by Frankie’s Sports Bar & Grill on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012. This is where you celebrate your singleness with a bar full of other happy singles.
“Everybody knows love stinks and that Cupid is stupid,” said Bill Katz, owner of Frankie’s. This is why he is throwing this bash complete with free drinks for those who do not “heart” love, happy hour prices and drink specials that are not exactly welcoming to the little winged creature with love-tipped arrows. Urban Epicurious Top 10 Food Porn Moments: The Mercury
Bev Garvin is a friend of craveDFW, a local social media buff and photographer who maintains a pretty cool local site called Urban Epicurious. Bev joins us to celebrate her top 10 favorite food porn moments of the recent past. We will run these over successive days so you may savor each bite.
I have to admit, I work myself into a frenzy and get weak in the knees when I know I’m going to have dessert. Like a crack whore in a crack den, I’m hopelessly addicted, and I’m completely powerless to resist basking in the afterglow of a decadent meal by indulging in something sweet and sublime. I eat dessert pretty much every time I get a chance (way more often than I should), because a really good one makes me swoon. Continue reading

Q de Cheval’s Lucky Prime Rib Night
Allow me to set the scene. It is 1966 and Sinatra just wailed the last notes of My Kind of Town. Count Basie and his Orchestra is playing clean up as the Chairman jogs off the stage at the Copa Room of the Sands Hotel in Vegas. More than likely Sinatra stumbles to the bar and slugs back a shot of Jack Daniels and lights a cigarette. The crowd disperses.
Chances are one of your distant relatives was there to witness the historic moment, and they follow the crowd out the door. Some head to the casino to spend your inheritance, while others filter through the buffet to take advantage of the 99-cent all-you-can-eat prime rib bar. Continue reading

Warm Up At Wild Chutney
I have checked Wild Chutney out a few times, and one the first visits was fairly disappointing. The service and flavors were not exactly spot on. However, that was when the restaurant first opened. On subsequent visits, I have been nothing less than thrilled — although the service could still use a spike of energy .
The flavors at Wild Chutney’s are fresh and strong. There are plenty of choices for those not wishing to carry around that curry permeation all evening, and there are a few new takes on dishes by way of the appetizers. Continue reading

Johnny’s Pizza Opens Today in Addison
One more pizza top add to the long line up in the DFW area. Johnny’s Pizza, known through out the southeast, has set up shop in Addison. The smallish chain boasts a strong following from transplants from states like Louisiana and Georgia, originating in Monroe, LA. Continue reading

Common Table Has Real Honest-To-Goodness Poutine
The search for poutine in Dallas has been arduous at best. But this week we learn that it takes a village to make the ethereal and savory dish known by all in Canada as their national dish.
The staff at craveDFW aren’t the only ones stymied by the fact that it is so difficult to find something seemingly simple in a city as large as Dallas. Scardello Cheese monger Ali Morgan has been equally pining away for the dish for quite sometime after she made a cheese trek to Canada. Continue reading
