NTFB Empty Bowl Event

The North Texas Food Bank announced the date for the annual Empty Bowls luncheon, March 9, 2012 from 11am to 1pm. For a donation of $35 (advance price) luncheon guests can enjoy any of the soups, breads and desserts provided by over a dozen select restaurants, and go home with a hand crafted bowl created by an area artisan. While savoring the luncheon delicacies, Young Strings of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra entertain in the beautiful atrium of the Meyerson Symphony Center.   Continue reading →

Greyt Gala Dinner

The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) celebrates over a decade of saving greyhound lives March 3 (6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.) with the 11th annual Greyt Gala Dinner and Auction to be held at the Hilton Dallas in Southlake Town Square.

This year’s theme Faith, Hope, and Charity, honors three of the many abused injured greyhounds cared for by GALT over the past several years; Faith, a female missing her right ear, was removed from a hoarder (along with her 8 puppies); Hope, a stray discovered cowering under a house near a busy highway on a freezing morning after suffering for months in the open without adequate food; and, Charity, found severely underweight at only 45 pounds due to starvation.   Continue reading →

Top Dallas Bartenders to Compete in Houston’s Speed Rack

If you happen to be in Houston this coming weekend you might wish to attend a pretty awesome cocktail competition called Speed Rack that pits some of the hottest bartenders in Louisiana and Texas to raise cash and awareness for breast cancer. Sixteen female bartenders will be in competition for bragging rights, a $500 honorarium and a chance to compete nationally in New York City later in the year. Two of our best female bartenders will be in that competition.

Stewpot Announces Chef Line-Up for Annual Event

The fourth annual SOUP’S ON! Stewpot Alliance Luncheon  and Art Sale to be held Tuesday January 24 (11 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.) at the historic Union Station in downtown Dallas features nine of the city’s finest chefs serving up signature soups. SOUP’S ON! includes an art sale of more than 50 original paintings and handmade jewelry from the artists of the Stewpot Open Art Programs, keynote speaker Jeannette Walls along with performance by the Hamilton Park Men’s Choir.

A Beautiful Mystery

Dallas based photographer, Thomas Mosley, is set to debut his collection of photographs, A Beautiful Mystery, on January 19th, 2012 at One McKinney Plaza. The intimate evening will be complimented with hor d’ouerves and cocktails from Chef Tiffany Derry of Private|Social and live music from 6pm-9pm.

The photographs will be available for sale and limited edition prints signed by Thomas Mosley himself. A portion of the proceeds of each sale will benefit the Junior Players Guild, a Dallas non-profit focusing on exposure of the arts to youth of all communities.      Continue reading →

Event Benefits Local Model Lauren Scruggs

Tuesday night Sambuca 360 was packed with people attending the red carpet fundraiser, ‘An Event for Lauren’ benefitting the Lauren Scruggs Hope Fund and hosted by Sambuca 360 and the Kimbell Agency. Lauren Scruggs, a Dallas-based fashion blogger at LOLO Magazine, suffered major injuries including the loss of her left hand and eye and brain damage after being hit by the propeller of a small plane when she went to go thank the pilot.

Lauren has made miraculous strides and continues on her long road to recovery, with a heart of gold and such a positive outlook, she is an inspiration to many.    Continue reading →
