Tamales at La Popular Feed the Community (And They Want To Give You 10 Dozen Free!)

by Steven Doyle    photos by Robert Bostick

Today we visit with the absolute giants in the tamale industry, La Popular. The Tamale House has gained a reputation for not only making quality tamales year round, but also takes pride in giving back to the community as we will find out with this Q&A with both Jesse Moreno Sr. and Jr. at La Popular.

La Popular is one of the most respected tamale makers in Dallas and for a good reason. The tamale continually makes the top of any best tamale list since they opened in 1984. There are currently two locations for La Popular, one in the Lakewood area and the other in Shed #1 at the Dallas Farmers Market. You ma pick up fresh, hot tamales for the holidays at either location, even on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

by Crave Staff

Beginning today until Oct. 14, Luna de Noche and the North Texas Food Bank will team up against hunger to commemorate National Food Bank Week, which is Oct. 9 – 15. To help raise awareness and products for NTFB, guests are asked for a donation of five or more cans, or other non-perishable items, at any of the six Luna de Noche locations in Dallas, Garland, Plano and Rockwall. In return, Luna de Noche will give a free order of its award-winning shredded beef or shredded chicken nachos.

“With six successful locations in different communities across Dallas, I know we can both create some awareness for National Food Bank Week, and for the North Texas Food Bank in their fight against hunger,” said Luna de Noche Director of Operations Henry Hashem. “Together, our guests and their mission can unite behind this one important cause and make a difference.”   Continue reading
