Uchibā’s Uncommon Ramen Series Drops Chef Collaboration Lineup

Uchibā’s Uncommon Ramen, the monthly series celebrating innovative collaborations with Uchibā’s Chef Rhonda McCullar and renowned chefs from around the country, announced today their secured lineup of collaborations well into 2022. Since launching in 2017, the Uncommon Ramen series has boasted such celebrated chefs as Tommy Lee, Chris Shepherd, Aaron Franklin, and Tyson Cole, among others. Most recently, the concept featured a bowl made in conjunction with Top Chef Winner, Chef Hung Huynh of Guy Savoy, Bocuse d’Or, and CATCH.

Winners of the 2021 Big Tex Choice Awards

The 17th Annual Big Tex® Choice Awards was a battle for the ages. Despite a year’s hiatus, the 2021 finalists proved that there is no shortage of creativity when it comes to this competition. After tasting all 10 foods and carefully evaluating each item, the all-star panel of judges have tallied their scores and cast their final votes. Drum roll please…and the winners are: “Best Taste – Savory” AND “Most Creative” go to the Deep Fried Seafood Gumbo Balls by Gourmet Royale, while The Armadillo by James Barrera wins “Best Taste – Sweet.”

Before I give you the good news I would be remiss not to share the news that John Mueller, the grandson of famed pit-master Louie Mueller, and himself an award-winning barbeque craftsman, has joined the Hutchins family team. Customers at both Hutchins locations can look forward to trying Mueller-crafted items starting with his sausage specials, including a Peach Habanero sausage, Blueberry Maple sausage and a Hot Gut. Upscale Nightclub Takes Over a Historic Building at 600 Jackson Street, Opens Later This Month

Downtown Dallas’s nightlife scene is about to become even bigger and better with the addition of Rokwood, a stylish nightclub and bar that is opening soon at 600 Jackson Street. Located in a century-old brick building deemed the Legal Arts Center, the two-story space has been meticulously transformed into an upscale entertainment venue, complete with world-class lighting and sound.

The unique venue is an Instagrammer’s dream. Walk through the oversized doors to find ornate chandeliers, gilded mirrors, and leather chesterfields. Original accents await at every turn, including a cascading wall of green plants, the private “emerald room,” a vintage turquoise photo booth and a claw-foot bathtub that’s perfect for unforgettable photo ops. Eat Me: Deli News Colossal Onion Burger

Dallas has very few real deli options, but one super reliable source for big pastrami sandwiches, kosher dills, great breakfasts, and the best matzo ball soup in Dallas come from Deli News located in North Dallas.

The jumbo sandwiches are epic, with choices such as the triple-decker, more meat than any human can logically wrap their fists around, one pound pastrami sandwiches that are smoky good and flown direct from a secret source in New York (along with their bread), and the pound cheese burger.  Most probably think kreplach, lox, chopped liver and knish when they think of Deli News, and they should.
