Celebrate the Opening of R Taco on Oak Lawn with a Free Taco

Located in the old digs of Snookies at 3604 Oak Lawn, R Taco is celebrating the opening with “Free Taco Monday” this coming Monday, Dec. 14th. Get a free taco from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Follow R Taco on Facebook or Twitter and show at the register. 20 percent of food sales from the new location will be donated to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Never heard of R Taco? It is the new name of Rusty Taco which was recently purchased by the same folks who operate Buffalo Wild Wings.

Sugar Skull Offers New Menu

Sugar Skull Cafe located in Trinity Groves announced their new menu that will roll out on Tuesday, November 10th. The new menu will feature breakfast style tacos that will be served from open to close. They’ve changed up some items and brought on some new ones based on your feedback.

Some on the new items include:
Hangover: breakfast style taco with egg, bacon, crispy potato, tomato, onion, cheese
Grin: 6″ flour tortilla with choice of protein, queso fresco, lime
Cochino: signature taco with pulled pork, lime cured jalapeno, slaw, cilantro

The new menu will be served daily from open till close.

To celebrate the new menu Sugar Skull will be featuring $2 cans of Modelo  and their Classic Frozen Margarita from Tuesday to Thursday.

Fuel City Mesquite is Now Open

Fuel City, the popular Dallas travel center is now open in Mesquite. With seventeen acres and 75 employees, Fuel City aka “The Ranch in Mesquite” is more than twice the size of the original Dallas location.

Open 24/7, Fuel City Mesquite amenities include the popular homemade tacos, submarine sandwiches, elotes, The Original Fried Pie Shop, clean bathrooms, twenty four gas fuel positions, eight truck fuel positions, sodas, ice cold beer and fresh brewed iced tea. Tacos y Mas Opening on Cedar Springs

The Gayborhood is about to get another late night taco haunt as Tacos y Mas is preparing to move into a space at 4123 Cedar Springs. This will make location number five for the local taco chain. The other locations span Greenville Avenue, Ross, Forest Lane, and Plano Road.

Tacos y Mas is known for their full slate of street tacos, but especially good are the fish tacos and breakfast taco selection.   Continue reading

Sugar Skull Cafe Has Bad Ass Tacos In Trinity Groves

We spent some time visiting some of the Trinity Groves hot spots this weekend including the new Sugar Skull Cafe. This is a fast casual restaurant that rests at the end of the East aisle in  the front of the complex next to the very popular Resto Gastro Bistro. Sugar Skull offers a nice line up of tacos, breakfast items, and sides such as fundido, elotes and churros.   Continue reading

Thurber Mingus Serving Up Big Burgers And Tacos

Located across from the Trinity River on White Settlement road sits a little place that serves up big flavors. Thurber Mingus has been open for roughly 2 months now and starting to find its place. They strive to use only local and Texas sourced products including a good selection of beer from most, if not all, of the local breweries. You will also find plenty of local beers and spirits used at the bar. All mixes and syrups are created in house.

Inside is laid back with a good sized bar. Outside has a very nice two level patio area and a garden area with picnic tables and chairs all made from reclaimed pallet wood and stage at the end of the garden for live music.  The outdoor space is spacious and comfortable.   Continue reading

Revolver Taco Closing, Possible Relocation

Fort Worth’s Revolver Taco, considered one of the best tacos in that area, will be shuttering and looking for a new location very soon. The dispute is over the building which has previously been leased. Revolver Taco was offered the opportunity to purchase the building, but instead declined. Quesa: Mexican Street Food

With just weeks under their belt, the owners of the newly opened Quesa is enjoying a good crowd from the neighborhood at their 3900 Cedar Springs location in Dallas.  Actually the full name is Quesa: Mexican Street Food, and that is as about an accurate description as you will find. Owned by Patricia and Francisco Cabrera, both new to the restaurant world, moved to the States five years ago. Patricia’s sister owns Taco Stop on Irving Blvd just south of the Design District. The recipes used at Quesa are actually old family guard.   Continue reading
